Pin Me or Pin Me Not exists because Pinterest is the go to tool for many of us. It brings recipes, crafts, organizational tools, fashion, party ideas, beauty answers and household solutions right to our fingertips. For launch week, I would love to hear from you what unexpected benefit Pinterest has brought to your life. I asked this question to Pinterest experts, popular pinners and some of my favorite Pinterst people. Hope you enjoy this round-up of their answers and find some new and interesting people to follow on Pinterest.
What Unexpected Benefit has Pinterest Brought to Your Life?
MELISSA TAYLOR- AUTHOR OF PINTEREST SAVVY AND CREATOR OF IMAGINATION SOUP
“Let me tell ya, Pinterest rocked my world in very unexpected ways because it launched a whole new career for me. This past February, I shared my Pinterest know-how in a book called Pinterest Savvy. (I had 10,000 downloads the first day.) When businesses and individuals asked me for even more support (beyond the book,) I hired a coach and jumped feet first into a Pinterest consulting business. Now I have webinars, a membership group, and service packages. It’s seriously mind-blowing even to me and it’s my life! All because of Pinterest – something I started doing just for fun.”
PENNY BAUDER, OWNER OF GREEN KIDS CRAFTS
“Well, an unexpected benefit of Pinterest is the surprise of getting over 1.4 million followers of our Green Kid Crafts boards and the huge impact this has had on our business. Also, I love how our team has been able to use Pinterest to organize our thoughts around our different monthly Discovery Box themes, which is integral for our business model. For example, for our World Music Box (http://www.greenkidcrafts.com/Music-Crafts-for-Kids-p/gkckit014.htm) we pinned tons of activities and projects related to that theme (http://pinterest.com/greenkidcrafts/musical-crafts/). Then we went back to the board when we were ready to test project ideas to see what our fans thought were the coolest projects. Then we brought our kid testers in to confirm. We do this with each monthly theme and the result is fabulous Discovery Boxes each month!”
KARA ALLEN- OWNER/ADMIN/PARTY DESIGNER OF KARA’S PARTY IDEAS LLC
“Pinterest has made my life so much brighter! I didn’t know how influential it would be and how much it would help me and Kara’s Party Ideas .com! I owe a lot to Pinterest and definitely have a super big pinterest crush!”
KARI SWEETEN- OWNER OF U CREATE
“The biggest benefit Pinterest has brought to my life are many new readers. Pinterest accounts for 75% of traffic on UCreate! Incredible.”
JAMIELYN NYE- FOUNDER OF I HEART NAPTIME
“One unexpected benefit Pinterest has brought to my life is I feel like I’m a better wife and mom. There are so many great tips, inspiring quotes and family activities floating around Pinterest, and I have loved trying them with my family. I have also tried so many amazing recipes that my whole family has loved.”
CHRISTY DENNEY- CREATOR OF THE GIRL WHO ATE EVERYTHING
“Since Pinterest, the traffic to my site has quadrupled and the inspirational pins have set my creativity into overdrive!”
KRISTIN DOYLE- CREATOR OF DINE AND DISH, FREELANDCE WRITER, FOOD AND LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHER
“I would say it has made me strive to be more creative… to look at things that might have been junk before and to figure out how to bring new life to it. Pinterest (or, well, the people who create the posts that are then pinned onto Pinterest) provides the inspiration!”
KRISSY SHERMAN- CREATOR OF B-INSPIRED MAMA
“When I first joined Pinterest, I just considered it a clever visual way to organize ideas. What I didn’t realize was that it would actually become a way for me to connect and share with other creative moms.”
HEATHER- SHOP OWNER AND DESIGNER OF CHICKABUG
“Like everyone else, I definitely love pinning ideas, but as a business owner and blogger, my favorite feature of Pinterest is being able to find out which of MY images get pinned. It’s a great way to get feedback on my work. It’s really fun and addictive to see what people like!”
MARYLEA HARRIS- FOUNDER OF PINK AND GREEN MAMA
“Pinterest has become my new “google.” It saves me time and allows me to do a quick visual search for birthday party ideas, crafts, recipes, or home improvement ideas. As an artist and crafter, I’m a very visual person. I love being able to search Pinterest by keywords and find images to direct me to the blog posts and websites I want.
Pinterest has been a wonderful way for me to organize my online information in one place – like a big scrapbook or vision board. I really like using it for eye candy like gardening ideas, art lesson plans, and birthday party themes.
An added benefit for me has been new traffic for my blog. I’ve been blogging for 5 years and have a lot of really good but buried content. Because my posts are heavy on visual content and photos, Pinterest has been a great way for new readers to connect to my projects and find hidden gems on my site!”
MARIA LICHTY- CREATOR OF TWO PEAS AND THEIR POD
“Pinterest has helped me organize my online life. I have also found so many fun, creative, inspiring, and delicious sites thanks to Pinterest.”
KRISTYN– CREATOR OF LIL’ LUNA
“Not only has Pinterest been great for my own site in bringing more traffic and followers, but it has brought me more inspiration than I could ever imagine. I LOVE seeing everyone’s creativity and feel so inspired every time I am on Pinterest. :)”
HEATHER MANN- FOUNDER OF DOLLAR STORE CRAFTS
“Pinterest has given me instant access to all the best ideas online, as recommended to me by my friends and family.”
STACIE VAUGHNN- FOUNDER OF SIMPLY STACIE
“I’ve discovered so many new and exciting recipes from Pinterest. I’ve got quite a few food boards and I pin things I would like to try. I’ve also made a few recipes and then blogged about them. It’s so much easier to just go to my boards for inspiration versus scouring the web for recipes. Everything is neatly displayed in one spot!”
SARAH- CREATOR OF UGLY DUCKLING HOUSE
“At first, Pinterest seemed to simply be a great source of inspiration (and don’t get me wrong, I love it for that reason the most!). But as time went on, I realized that Pinterest had a ton of other uses. I’m a visual learner, and Pinterest is a FANTASTIC resource for learning new skills. I didn’t expect it to be my go-to source for learning photography, marketing, and web design, but Google and Pinterest are now my one-two-punch for highly focused skill development.”
